DELETE ACCOUNT
This page explains how to delete your emptyingthecup account, which you use on emptyingthecup.com and in the emptyingthecup mobile app.
Deleting your account automatically cancels any active paid membership, so you won’t be billed again.
How to delete your account
From the mobile app
- Navigate to the account settings screen by tapping on the hamburger menu button in the top right corner of the app.
- Tap the box that contains the username and the user display picture.
- Tap on settings
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen to locate the Account Deletion section and tap the Delete My Account button.
- A confirmation box will appear with warning that this action will permanently delete your account and everything associated with it, including meditation data and access to site features and the mobile app.
- To continue the deletion process, you must type in “DELETE” in the input box then tap the Delete Account Button.
From the website
- Click the box that contains the username and the user display picture in the top right corner of the website.
- From the drop down menu, click settings.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen to locate the Account Deletion section and click the Delete My Account button.
- A confirmation box will appear with warning that this action will permanently delete your account and everything associated with it, including meditation data and access to site features and the mobile app.
- To continue the deletion process, you must type in “DELETE” in the input box then click the Delete Account Button.
What gets removed
- Your account details: username, email address, name, profile picture, and any additional details you customized your account with.
- Your membership record
- Your meditation session history and statistics
- Your saved tracks and playlist folders
- Your listening usage records
- Your posts on the Discourse platform are removed completely
What we keep, and for how long
- Payment records: records of past payments and donations, such as dates, amounts, and the email used, are kept in our records and by our payment processor, Stripe, as required by financial regulations and tax law. They contain no app activity data. (Card numbers are handled by Stripe and are never stored on our site)
- Backups: deleted data may remain in backups for up to 6 weeks before being permanently erased.
